founder & director

Hi, my name is Rioin (pronounced “ree-OH-win”). I’m an AAPI director and small business owner specializing in crafting stories in the food & beverage industry. Why? That’s where my heart is. Although I don’t have any culinary background, food plays a big part in my story. It’s one of the pillars of my island culture and it’s where you can have some of the best conversations. All of this centered around one shared experience. It’s one of the only times we get to sit and enjoy life in the present for a small portion of our day to engage in meaningful conversations with others around the table. I believe that telling food stories through film is important because we as a society desire to connect with other humans. There are many untold stories in this specific industry, and my goal is to give them a platform to have their voices be heard.

Rioin Oshiro is a James Beard Award Winning filmmaker. His short documentary, Great Wall, was awarded the prestigious award in the Visual Media — Short Form category beating a CBS broadcast show and YouTube creator.
